Vipers SC will seek to bounce back from their defeat to SC Villa when they host Lugazi FC on Thursday under the floodlights of Kitende.

The 1-0 defeat at the soon to be former champions SC Villa ended the Venoms run of nine consecutive league wins and brought the title race back to life.

Vipers currently lead the log with 49 points, just two adrift of second placed NEC FC who play UPDF FC on Friday.

Before the stumble at Wankulukuku, Vipers were unbeaten since their opening day defeat to NEC FC.

Against Lugazi, the Venoms will be boosted by the return of their inspirational skipper Milton Karisa who has been out for three months due to injury.

Midfielder Abdul Karim Watambala who missed the trip to Villa through suspension is back in the team but Derrick Ndahiro remains sidelined.

Lugazi lost their previous league game to Maroons FC and were also eliminated by SC Villa in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

They held Vipers SC to a goalless draw in their first round meeting at Lugazi.

Steven Bogere’s side is currently 11th on the table with 26 points and have been a boggy side to some of the big teams in the league managing wins against Express FC and NEC FC.
They also drew against SC Villa and KCCA FC respectively.

The Venoms cannot afford to drop any more points if they are to prevail to a seventh Uganda Premier league title this season.
