Former Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango has joined the Uganda Cranes technical team ahead of the forthcoming 2024 African Nations Championships ( CHAN) on a temporary basis.

According to FUFA, Onyango offered to support the CHAN goalkeeping department during his holiday.

“Former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper and Captain Denis Onyango has graciously offered to support the CHAN squad’s goalkeeping department during his holiday in the country, after being approached by FUFA. He will join the team at Luzira today, providing support for the duration of his stay.”

The Uganda Cranes is currently preparing for the rearranged CHAN tournament in East Africa.

The team is co-coached by former SC Villa coach Morley Byekwaso and Fred Muhumuza of Vipers SC.

Joel Mutakubwa (BUL FC), Kusiima Chrispus (Kitara FC), Kiggundu Denis (Vipers SC) and Hannington Ssebwalunyo (NEC FC) are the goalkeepers in training while KCCA FC’s Mutwalib Mulogofa has among the players dropped.
