Kenya Premier League side Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) FC are in advanced talks to sign Ugandan goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga.

Swift Sports understands Muwanga is currently in Kenya ahead of the imminent transfer to the Kenya Bankers.

He is currently a free agent after his contract with Uganda Premier League side Police FC expired last month.

Muwanga joined Police FC at the start of the previous season as a free agent and signed a one year contract.

Negotiations with Police FC over a possible contract extension seemingly stalled with both parties failing to reach a compromise.

Muwanga played 13 games for the Cops and kept seven clean sheets in his one year stay at the club.

For starters, Muwanga is one of the proven shot stoppers in the country having previously featured for Sadolin Paints, URA FC, Express FC, Onduparaka and Rwanda’s Etoile de l’Est.

He was instrumental as Express FC won their 7th Uganda Premier League title during the 2020/21 season.

Muwanga has also won two Golden Gloves, one with Express in 2021 and another in 2016 with the now defunct Sadolin Paints FC.

KCB FC have recently appointed former Tusker FC coach Robert Matano as their new head coach heading into the next season.
