Farouk Miya joins Greek second tier side

Ugandan attacker Farouk Miya has joined Greek second tier side GS Ilioupolis, according to Pan African Football.

Miya has signed a two year employment contract with the Greek side that hosts its home games at Ilioupolis Municipal Stadium.

The Uganda Cranes international has been unemployed since his departure at Turkish side Çaykur Rizespor.

Miya has also previously featured for Standard Liège and Royal Excel Mouscron in Belgium, Səbail FK in Azerbaijan, HNK Gorica in Croatia, Konyaspor in Turkey, and FC Lviv in Ukraine.

Miya will hope to revive his career at the Greek side in the bid to feature for the Uganda Cranes at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The attacker represented Uganda at the 2017 AFCON that was held in Morocco and 2019 continental showpiece in Egypt.

His new home Gymnastic Club Ilioupolis was founded in 1953 and hosts its games at 3,055 Ilioupoli Municipal capacity Stadium.
