Three time Buganda Masaza Cup winners Mawokota have parted ways with their head coach David Mutono Katono.
The development was confirmed on Tuesday through a statement from Mawokota which reads,
“Mawokota management team has today decided to part ways with David Mutono Katono. We have mutually agreed to end our marriage with the coach in this year’s Masaza Cup tournament. We are talking with several coaches at this moment and we expect to announce a new head coach soon.” Reads the statement
Mutono last year helped Kyaggwe reach their maiden final before losing to Buddu 1-0 at Mandela National Stadium.
During his time at Mawokota, Mutono has managed two wins in Masengere Group, lost twice and drawn as many.
Mawokota are in third place in Masengere Group with 9 points they have garnered in seven matches. They last won the prestigious competition in 2013 and are also previous winners in 2005 and 2007.
