For the first time in history, Uganda progressed to the quarterfinals of the African Nations Championship (CHAN). In the previous six editions, the Cranes journey has been ending at the group stage.

Uganda needed to avoid defeat against South Africa and so did Morley Byekwaso’s men with a dramatic 3-3 stalemate at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.

Allan Okello who has been instrumental in Cranes’ journey to the last eight is among the top scorers at the 2024 CHAN.
