Brian Ssenyondo suffered his first competitive defeat as KCCA FC head coach against SC Villa in the FUFA Super 8 contest at Lugogo on Wednesday.

The Jogoos under their new Serbian coach Zeljko Kovacevic smiled to a 2-1 first leg win at Lugogo courtesy of goals from Peter Magambo’s own goal and Andrew Otim while Sammy Ssebaduka pulled one back for the Kasasiro Boys.

Defeat to SC Villa was a reality check of the task Ssenyondo has on his hands at KCCA FC.

Ssenyondo must address the defence issue as well as their attacking play if they are to achieve success in the forthcoming season.

The debate on how KCCA FC defend was summed up in the 2-1 defeat to SC Villa on Wednesday night.

Defenders Filbert Obenchan and Peter Magambo have failed to form a decent defensive partnership despite their longevity at the club.

In attack, Emmanuel Anyama had the fewest touches of any starter and his replacement Ivan Ahimbisibwe who was making his competitive debut in KCCA FC colours had little impact much like all the players in attacking areas.

It’s too early to judge but what is evident is that Ssenyondo and his co-coach Jackson Magera have a huge role if they are to turn fortunes at Lugogo in the bid for a successful 2025/26 campaign.

Meanwhile, URA FC overcame Kitara FC 2-1 in the other game played on Wednesday at Lugogo.

Action continues on Thursday with reigning Champions BUL FC facing Maroons FC while Express FC will take on NEC FC. Both games will be played at Nakivubo Stadium.
