The 2025 Buganda Masaza Cup Group resumed over the weekend with several teams battling for slots in the knockout phase.
In Bulange Group, defending champions Buddu bowed out of the competition following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Ssese on Saturday while Busiro and Buluuli played out to a goalless stalemate.
Buluuli are almost there in the knockout phase having managed 16 points in the nine games they have played while Busujju and Ssese are also on the verge of qualification.
Gomba, Buddu and Busiro all crash out of the competition having garnered 9 points respectively.
Mawokota thrashed Bugerere 3-0 in the epic Masengere Group contest at Buwama playground.
Sunny Kaija, Collins Ocatre and Arafat Nkola scored the three goals for three time Masaza Cup champions to close in on the last eight slot.
Mawokota are now on 15 points and need just at least a draw against Buvuma to progress while Bugerere who had their unbeaten run end needs to maximize points on the final day of the group stage. They are currently third on 14 points.
Kyaddondo stay in contention for a place in the quarterfinals following their 2-1 win at Bulemeezi. Enock Ssekatawa struck a brace for Kyaddondo are now on 12 points and need to clinch victory on the final day of the Group stage to stand a chance of progressing.
Benon Vianny Kigenyi scored for Bulemeezi as they bowed out of the competition.
Already qualified Buweekula edged Buvuma 2-1 thanks to goals from Jimmy Kalema and Shafik Ssonko while Ibra Kasakya found the back of the net for Buvuma.
In Muganzirwazza Group, Ssingo kept their knockout stage hopes alive with a 2-0 win over already qualified Kyaggwe.
Elvis Ssekajugo and Shaban Kayongo scored the two goals for the two time Masaza Cup champions.
Kyaggwe are on 18 points and are already through to the last eight while Ssingo are second in the Group with 14 points.
