The Group stage of the prestigious Buganda Masaza Cup climaxed on Sunday, 7th with seven games to determine all the quarterfinalists.

After match day ten, Buweekula, Busujju, Bugerere, Ssese, Mawokota, Ssingo, Kyaggwe and Buluuli powered into the last eight.

Buluuli defied all the odds to finish at the top of Bulange Group that had Gomba, Buddu and Busiro will battle with Bugerere in the quarterfinals.

Buluuli are 2011 Masaza Cup champions and will take on Bugerere who ended their Masengere Group campaign third with 17 points. Bugerere were one of the best two third placed teams and have never won the event.

The anticipated clash of the quarterfinal stage will be the game between two former winners Mawokota and Ssingo.

Ssingo champions in 2015 and 2018 finished top of Muganzirwazza Group with 19 points while Mawokota are previous winners in 2005, 2007 and 2013 were second placed in Masengere Group with 18 points.

2007 and 2008 semi finalists Ssese have been drawn against Kyaggwe for a place in the semis. Kyaggwe ended as runners up in Munganzirwazza Group with 19 points while Ssese were one of the best third placed teams.

Kyaggwe finished as runners up in the 2024 Masaza Cup edition, losing to Buddu at Namboole.

Meanwhile, Buweekula who are losing finalists in 2012 and 2021 will lock horns with Busujju in the quarterfinals.

Busujju finished as runners up in Bulange Group with 18 points, they have never won the competition with their best ever finishes coming at the 2016 and 2018 editions when they were semifinalists.

The first legs of the quarters will be played on September 27th, 2025, while the return legs are slated for October 4, 2025.
