Uganda’s CAF Champions League representatives Vipers SC secured a narrow 1-0 away win over Namibia’s African Stars in their first leg of the first preliminary round on Friday.
In the match played at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa, the Venoms smiled to a narrow 1-0 win thanks to a Hillary Mukundane sole goal.
The Vipers defender netted in the 13th minute of the contest and his goal was the difference between the two sides.
Vipers skipper Milton Karisa along with substitute Yunus Sentamu all had decent chances to extend their lead over the Namibian side.
Vipers are seeking a return to the group stages of the competition and will host African Stars on Saturday, 27th September at St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende to determine who prevails to the next round.
The aggregate winner in this contest will take on Power Dynamos of Zambia or ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast in the second preliminary round.
