Former Uganda Cranes attacker Mike Sulaiman Mutyaba and a section of Uganda Premier League fans are unhappy with the newly introduced league reforms.

The 2025/26 league campaign which will be played under the new format officially kicks off on Friday, 26th September at various Stadium.

While addressing the media on Thursday, Mutyaba who featured for Vipers SC, KCCA FC and Express FC stressed that the new format introduced by FUFA will increase cases of match fixing.

“We shall not go to Stadiums due to the newly introduced league format. We believe this format will only increase cases of match fixing and it won’t attract fans.” We are boycotting league games for this forthcoming season since we as fans aren’t consulted. We shall not go to stadiums ahead of the new league season and we need answers from FUFA.” Said Mutyaba

Mutyaba also wants the Ugandan government to intervene

“We call upon the government to come and intervene in the fight against the new league format. We want the federation to always try to value stakeholders of the game, people like Omar Mandela and Dr Lawrence Mulindwa inject a lot of money in the game.So as fans of the game, we are boycotting league games for this forthcoming season since we are not in support of the format.” Said Mutyaba
