Power Dynamos leave Vipers reeling

Vipers SC were left with a big task in their quest for CAF Champions League group stage football after suffering a 2-1 home defeat to Zambia’s Power Dynamos on Sunday at Kitende.

Ivan Jacky Minnaert lost for the first time as Vipers SC head coach as the visitors ran out 2-1 winners in the first leg of the final phase of the qualification campaign at St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

The first period had limited chances with the best falling to Yunus Sentamu and Milton Karisa who at the stroke of halftime when denied by a double save from Willard Mwanza.

After a goalless first half, Yunus Sentamu gave the home side the lead to send Kitende into eruption.

Power Dynamos levelled matters through Moses Shumah after poor communication from defender Brady Dasylva and goalkeeper Dennis Kiggundu.

With 13 minutes to the end of the contest, the visitors took the lead when Derrick Ndahiro connected into his own net after Kiggundu had failed to deal with a cross from the left win, giving the Venoms a huge task to overcome.

The two sides will next face off on Friday, 24th October, 2025 in Kitwe with the aggregate winner progressing to the group stages of the competition.
