Uganda Cubs beaten by Panama in U-17 World Cup Rehearsal tie

Uganda Cubs suffered a 2-1 defeat during their international friendly (U-17 Dubai Youth Challenge Cup) contest against Panama at the Al Hamriya Culture and Sports Club Stadium on Sunday.

Simon Wanyama gave the Brian Ssenyondo coached side an early lead in the 13th minute with a sensational strike.

Panama levelled matters in the 20th through a penalty by Gordon Gerson.

Richard Moises put Panama ahead in the 58th minute as they completed a comeback win.

This was Uganda’s second buildup game in preparation for their forthcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup due in Qatar this month. They drew 1-1 with Venezuela on Friday in their first friendly game last week.

They will now turn attention to their next fixture against Paraguay due on Tuesday before they kick off their World Cup campaign on 5th November 2025 against Canada. Uganda is in Group K alongside Canada, Chile and France.
