The historic Uganda national U17 Boys team (Cubs) will return to the country after their FIFA U17 World Cup heroics in Qatar.

The Uganda Cubs who were first timers at the competition reached the round of 16 stage before being eliminated by fellow Africans Burkina Faso on penalties.

Following their remarkable World Cup journey, the Cub will touchdown at Entebbe International Airport on Friday 21st November 2025, at 3:30Pm.

FUFA Communications Director Ahmed Hussein called upon all fans and stakeholders to turn out to welcome the historical debutants.

“We encourage all fans and stakeholders to turn out in large numbers to welcome the team today. The boys have represented the country with great honour, reaching the Round of 16 on their first attempt,” Said Hussein.

According to Hussein FUFA will organise a special homecoming ceremony at a later date to honor the team’s achievement, inviting all stakeholders who contributed to their success.

The Cubs became the first national football side in history to represent Uganda at the global football stage. They were in Group K that had Chile, Canada and France.

Brian Ssenyondo’s side lost 2-1 to Canada before their 1-1 stalemate with Chile and climaxed their group stage campaign with a 1-0 win over 2001 U17 World Champions France.

At the Round of 32, Uganda needed Abubakali Walusimbi’s sole strike to eliminate African giants Senegal and their World Cup carnival was ended by Burkina Faso 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 stalemate in normal time.
