SC Villa go Top after stalemate with Vipers at Kitende

SC Villa climbed to the top of the Uganda Premier League table following the 1-1 stalemate with Vipers SC in the clash of the title contenders at Kitende on Saturday.

Frank Ssebufu scored for the record league champions before Usama Arafat levelled matters for the Venoms.

After a goalless first half, Ssebufu who replaced Hassan Mubiru headed the Jogoos into the lead in the 67th minute.

Ssebufu nodded in Simon Ssemayange quality cross to silence the home faithfuls.

Five minutes later, Usama levelled matters for Vipers tapping in Allan Okello’s perfect cross. This was Usama’s second goal for the Kitende based side who remain unbeaten this term.

SC Villa go top of the table with 17 points while Vipers move to fourth place with 13 points.

Vipers next host UPDF on Tuesday, 2nd December while SC Villa visit Maroons FC in their next league fixture.
