Uganda’s National Netball Team (She Cranes) has secured a ticket to the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia.
The development comes after the latest Word Netball Rankings that placed Uganda in the top six.
The top ranked nations in the rankings released this month all earn tickets to the global event.
Uganda’s triumph at the Celtic Netball Cup in in Scotland helped them move from seventh place to sixth. It should be remembered that Uganda overcame high-ranked nations such as Wales at the event.
In the latest rankings, the She Cranes displaced Wales, while remains Australia the number one ranked side followed by New Zealand (2), Jamaica (3), England (4) and South Africa (5) respectively.
Meanwhile, five Regional Qualifiers will take place in 2026, to determine the other remaining 10 teams, with the top two from each region qualifying to compete at the 2027 Netball World Cup due 25th August – 5th September 2027.
The qualification means, that this will be Uganda’s fifth appearance at the Netball showpiece after 1979, 2015, 2019 and 2023.
Before the 2027 World Cup, Uganda will first focus on the 2025 Netball Africa Cup in Malawi due December 8-14.
