SC Villa returned to winning ways with a 3-0 thrashing of URA FC at FUFA Kadiba Stadium on Thursday.

The Jogoos came into the contest after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Maroons in their previous league contest that ended their seven match unbeaten run.

Against URA, the record league champions were without four of their starters in Simon Ssemayange, Geoffrey Lubangakene who were out due to suspension while skipper David Owori and Reagan Mpande are with the national team for AFCON.

Despite the depletion, Zeljko Kovacevic’s men cruised past the tax men through goals from Diego Missi Ssemugera, Najib Yiga and Frank Mulimi.

Ssemugera gave the home the lead in the 22nd minute after a Chrispas Kusiima howler.

The URA goalkeeper failed to deal with SC Villa free kick spilling the ball into Ssemugera’s way.

Kusiima was substituted in the second half for Muhammad Ssekkeba.

Yiga doubled the Jogoos lead early in the second half before Mulimu put the cherry on the icing of the cake in the 70th minute.

SC Villa move into second place, level on points with leaders KCCA FC, both on 20 points.
