KCCA FC opened a five-point gap at the top of the Uganda Premier League with a narrow win over struggling Buhimba United Saints on Tuesday at Lugogo.
Rogers Mugisha scored the all important goal in the first period of the contest.
Mugisha struck on a rebound after goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba had saved Herbert Achayi’s powerful shot in the 27th minute.
Anywar Ntege had Buhimba’s best chance of the game in the 57th minute but his header was saved by goalkeeper Anthony Emojong.
Second half substitute Alex Yiga came close to doubling the hosts advantage but his effort was saved by Kiyimba in the final minutes of the game.
KCCA held on to yet another victory that means they go into the league recess due to AFCON on top of the table.
Buhimba are now winless in eight matches following defeat to KCCA FC. Before Tuesday’s defeat, they had gone seven matches without victory.
The Kasasiro Boys are now top of the table with 26 points in 11 games while Buhikba are 14th with 10 points in 11 matches.
