Lugazi FC have confirmed the appointment of Simon Peter Mugerwa as their new head coach on a one year contract.

Mugerwa fills the void left by Steven Bogere and Francis Mugerwa who were relieved of their duties early this week following the club’s poor run of results.

Mugerwa, who holds a CAF A Coach License, started the current season as the Mbarara City head coach but his stay at the club short-lived.

He has previously coached at Fire Masters, SC Villa, Soltilo Bright Stars, Police FC and has also been a key figure in the Masaza Cup and the National Schools Championship.

His newly appointed assistant Ssekweyama has also previously served at SC Villa, Express FC, Maroons FC, Maroons FC, Wakiso Giants and Mbarara City.

The club is expected to confirm a full list of new coaching staff in the due course.

Mugerwa’s immediate task is to guide Lugazi back to the rails as the club sits 14th on the UPL table with 10 points from 11 games played.

Lugazi will visit NEC FC in their next league fixture on 7th January 2026 at Lugogo.
