Striker Derrick Kakooza is part of the URA FC squad that is taking part in the ongoing 2026 Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar.
Kakooza last featured for KF Terbuni Puke in the Albanian third tier last season.
Kakooza is seeking a comeback having been out of action since the closing stages of the previous season.
He garnered international attention after emerging as the top scorer at the U20 AFCON tournament in Mauritania in 2021 with five goals.
The former Police striker subsequently moved to Valmiera in Latvia, Finland’s KUPs and later Egyptian side ENPPI SC before switching to Ethiopia Coffee in September 2023.
URA FC, who recently hired Hussein Mbalangu as their head coach, opened their Mapinduzi Cup on new year’s eve with a 1-0 win over Zanzibar’s Mlandege FC thanks to Fred Amaku’s goal.
The Tax Collectors will return to action with another Group A game against Singida Black Stars at the Amaan Stadium on Saturday.
