Tanzanian giants Young Africans (Yanga) are set to sign Uganda Cranes offensive midfielder Allan Okello from Vipers SC.
Okello is in the final six months of his contract at Vipers and efforts of an extension have seemingly diminished with the player attracting a strong interest from Yanga.
Yanga SC President Eng. Hersi Said has today arrived in Uganda in a bid to finalize the move that would see Okello move to the Tanzanian giants.
Vipers are locked in a scenario of selling Okello in the ongoing January transfer window or let him walk for free when his contract expires in June.
Eng Hersi Said recently said he intends to sign Uganda’s star player during an exclusive interview with Ugandan journalist Peta Tabu on the Pitchside.
” If it’s not in January, it’s gonna be soon, we will bring the best player from Uganda,” Eng Hersi Said told Tabu when asked about which Ugandan player will play for Yanga next after the departure of Khalid Aucho.
” I love Okello, I’ve been following him for a very long time since he was playing in Uganda before he even signed in Algeria,” He said.
” I came in Uganda in 2019 to watch two boys, Mustafa Kizza and Okello, and one of my best – Bobosi (Byaruhanga)”
Okello was the Uganda Premier League top scorer last season with 20 goals and helped the Venoms to win a domestic double.
He was also a key player as Uganda Cranes qualified for the 2025 AFCON but also shined in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
