Forward Rogers Mato has revealed why he chose to wear shirt number 74 at his new club Heart of Midlothian.
Mato was on Thursday unveiled at Hearts whom he joined on loan from North Macedonia side FK Vardar.
Following his move to the Scottish side, Mato was handed shirt number 74 and asserted the reason behind choosing the number.
“That’s when the club started, 1874, so I’ll carry the legacy of the club on my back. It’s a big responsibility, but I’m a man. We need the responsibilities and we can’t hide from them.” Said Mato.
Mato becomes the fourth Ugandan to feature for Hearts joining the footsteps of legendary David Obua, Toby Sibbick and Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru.
He has previously featured for Proline FC and KCCA FC in Uganda before joining Sanliurfaspor in Turkey. Mato also played for Fudbalski Klub Akademija Pandev Brera Strumica in North Macedonia.
