Uganda’s Eng. Moses Magogo is among the final three candidates vying for the CECAFA Presidency ahead of the CECAFA Elective General Assembly slated for Saturday 7th February in Djibouti.
Magogo who doubles as FUFA President, will battle with Paulos Weldehaimanot Andemariam of Eritrea and Burundi’s Alexandre Muyenge for the regional presidency.
The Assembly will also elect a new vice president and executive committee members but will also approve the 2026 CECAFA Budget and adopt the CECAFA competitions for the year 2026.
Muyenge, who is also the Federation President of Burundi, is the current acting president of CECAFA having assumed office in September after South Sudan’s Augustino Maduot Parek stepped aside.
Paulos Weldehaimanot Andemariam of Eritrea who is also in the race for presidency, is the acting vice president while Uganda’s Jean Sseninde is the acting Executive Director.
The Assembly which will bring together representatives from all the 12 Members of CECAFA including; Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan and Zanzibar.
