Police FC returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Simon Peter Mugerwa’s Lugazi FC on Thursday, 12th February at Kira Road Arena.

The Cops however finished with a man less after striker Bedia Djuma Ikamba was sent off.

Ikamba and Charles Bbale scored for Matia Lule’s Police side with both goals coming in the first half.

Abdul Kalanzi pulled one back for Mugerwa’s side three minutes to regulation time.

Mugerwa was returning to his former paymasters whom he served last season but his side conceded in the 14th minute through former SC Villa striker Bbale.

Bbale was fed by Sizwe Mario Gwebu to give the Cops the lead.

In the 24th minute, Ikamba doubled Police’s lead heading home a perfect Bbale cross.

Police were reduced to ten men in the 77th minute when Ikamba received a second yellow.

Ikamba had been cautioned in the first period before being sent off in the second period after elbowing Paul Wasswa.

In fact the second assistant referee Happy Badru reported to centre referee Joseph Masembe.

At the time, Ikamba was shown marching orders, Police were preparing to replace him with Herman Wasswa.

Three minutes to regulation time, Lugazi were awarded a penalty after Daniel Jakony had handled the ball in the forbidden area box. Kalanzi stepped up to at least find a consolation for the visitors.

Police FC move to third place on the log with 31 points while Lugazi remains in 11th position on 15 points.

Police FC travel to Buhimba United Saints on Tuesday next week while Lugazi will be at home to UPDF the following day.
