Wasswa Bbosa’s Kitara FC could go top of the Uganda Premier League with victory over struggling URA FC at Royals Park in Butema on Thursday.
Kitara who were handed a lifeline by FUFA’s decision to award them maximum points in their unplayed game against Vipers in October last year are just three points off the top.
With Vipers recent stumble in the 1-1 stalemate with NEC, the Royals will need to maximize points against the tax collectors to go level with the Venoms.
Hussein Mbalangu’s Lukewarm URA are desperate for points having gone seven games without a league win and are yet to score in 720 minutes.
They find themselves in the relegation zone with 14 points in 16 games and can’t afford further slip ups.
Defender Ronald Otti and Fred Amaku will be facing their former paymasters Kitara while Bbosa will look up to Emmanuel Wasswa, Jimmy Kalema for inspiration. Kitara are also expected to beef their squad with the acquisition of Muhammad Shaban.
The Royals are also seeking a league double over URA having won the first round meeting 1-0 at Nakivubo.
For starters, Kitara has managed three wins, lost twice and drawn once against URA in the previous six league meetings.
