SC Villa have unveiled experienced defender Farouk Matovu on a two year contract as a free agent from Entebbe UPPC FC.

Matovu, commonly known as “Musota” in the football circles, joins the Jogoos as their first signing of the ongoing mid-season transfer window.

Matovu who can also play as a center back and a right back, will reinforce the club’s defense amidst Arnold Odong’s injury struggles.

For starters, Matovu will become the latest player to play for all the VEK teams having previously featured for KCCA FC and Express FC about a decade ago.

Matovu pledges to repay the faith entrusted in him by the SC Villa technical team.

“I am loving everything here at Villa. The coaches have shown faith in me by giving me this opportunity, and I am ready to repay that trust. I am optimistic about playing here for the next two years.” Matovu said via the club’s website.

He has also previously played for BUL FC, The Saints FC, Kamwokya United, Black Star Masanafu, Kiyinda Boys among others.

The Jogoos are currently 4th on the Uganda Premier League table with 34 points, four behind leaders Vipers SC.

SC Villa will face BUL FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup on Wednesday (tomorrow) at the FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
