Why Calvary vs SC Villa was abandoned

The Uganda Premier League Secretariat has released a statement regarding the abandoned game between Calvary FC against SC Villa at Midigo Primary School Grounds in Yumbe.

The game was abandoned at halftime with SC Villa leading 1-0 courtesy of a Frank Ssebufu goal.

According to UPL, the match officials decided to abandon the contest due to concerns relating to match control, safety, and security within the stadium.

“The Uganda Premier League Secretariat informs the public that the #StarTimesUPL match between Calvary FC and SC Villa (M#138), played at Midigo Primary School Grounds in Yumbe, was abandoned at halftime with the score at 0-1 in favour of SC Villa.”

“The match officials did not resume for the second half due to concerns relating to match control, safety, and security within the stadium environment.A formal decision on the matter will be communicated in due course.” Read a Statement from UPL

SC Villa won the first round contest 1-0 when the two sides faced off in December last year at the FUFA Kadiba Stadium.
