FUFA has dismissed Police FC’s petition over Lugazi FC regarding Umar Kyebatala’s eligibility to feature in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

Last month, the Lugazi eliminated Police FC 2-1 at the round of 32 stage of the Stanbic Uganda Cup with Kyebatala scoring both goals for Lugazi.

Police then filed a petition claim that Kyebatala was ineligible to play the contest since he had already played for non-league side Football Classroom against Red Ants in the preliminary round.

FUFA stated that the rule only applies to players registered with the federation for the competition starting at the round of 64.

Kyebatala wasn’t a registered player with FUFA as a Football Classroom player and was eligible to play for Lugazi FC who registered him.

Lugazi will now battle with 2024 runners up NEC FC on Tuesday, 17th March at Lugogo for a place in the quarterfinals.

The other round of 16 ties will see Happy Boys Kagaba take on Six O’clock on Monday, 16th at Kagaba Playground in Kassanda while KCCA FC will battle with Onduparaka FC the following day at MTN Omondi.

Vipers SC will host Iganga United FC on Wednesday, 18th March at Kitende whereas Kitara FC will entertain Bunyaruguru United on the same day.

SC Villa will face off with Maroons FC on Thursday, 19th March at FUFA Kadiba.

A double header will be played at Hamz Stadium with URA FC taking on Tapoh FC before Express FC host Red Devo FC.
