NEC FC will hope to continue with their fine start to the second round when they host Abdallah Mubiru’s Entebbe UPPC under the lights of Lugogo on Tuesday.
Badru Kaddu’s Diehards are unbeaten since their 2-1 defeat to KCCA FC on December 12th last year. They have won five and drawn four in the league since their last defeat.
“We are playing against UPPC here at home. They are ahead of us and we are prepared very well, we have also been having a run where we didn’t concede and also score goals, if we could go by that attitude. We’re going to put up a good show and have a good result out of the game.”
“If we are to compete, we told the boys that every team that comes across we must go against it and they are well prepared; attitude and the motivation is also very good.” Said Kaddu as quoted by NEC website
They are currently 7th on the Uganda Premier League table with 30 points, five adrift of the Painters who have gone three matches without victory across all competitions.
Entebbe UPPC lost their Uganda Cup round of 32 contest to Kitara before losing to the same side in the league as well as a goalless stalemate with URA FC.
Mubiru is expected to unleash the duo of Abraham Tusubira and Laban Tibita who joined the club in the mid-season transfer window.
NEC trio of Richard Basangwa, Ssenoga Muhammad Kagawa and Pius Obuya who had minor injuries are in contention.
Entebbe UPPC won the first round meeting 1-0 in Bugonga courtesy of a Samuel Kawawa sole goal.
