Kitara FC closed the game on Uganda Premier League table leaders Vipers SC with a 4-0 humbling of Buhimba United Saints in the Kitara derby on Friday at the Hoima City Stadium.
The contest was the first-ever League competitive encounter held at the newly constructed stadium in Hoima City.
Kitara prevailed 4-0 thanks to first half braces from George Ssenkaaba and Kabon Living.
Ssenkaaba gave Kitara an early lead from a free kick outside the area in the fourth minute of the game.
Nine minutes later, Ssenkaaba doubled Kitara’s lead after Buhimba goalkeeper Jamil Kiyemba failed to deal with a corner kick delivery.
Ronald Mutebi replaced Kiyemba in the 23rd minute. Ten minutes later, Mutebi conceded direct from Kabon’s corner kick delivery before the forward completed his brace five minutes before the break.
The second half did not yield more goals as Kitara took the bragging rights in the derby and are within a point of leaders Vipers, who have 47 points and play Calvary on Saturday. Buhimba, on the other hand, remains 13th on the pile with 15 points
