Uganda’s Group A matches:
Match 1: Zimbabwe 1-1 Uganda
Match 2: Uganda 6-0 Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
Match 3: Uganda 3-0 Morocco
Uganda’s representatives at the ongoing 2026 CAF African schools football championship in Harare, Zimbabwe, St.Mary’s Kitende will take on Benin in the semifinal on Thursday, 9th April, prior to the climax on the subsequent day.
Morocco who were in the same group with Uganda will battle Senegal in the other semi-final.
The semi-finalists had their last training on Wednesday in preparation for the clashes.
“We have had a good last training session as we get ready to play Benin tomorrow (Thursday). They (Benin) worked hard to get out of the game, and this is the reason I expect a challenging match. But, I am hopeful, we shall battle and eliminate them,” Noted Uganda’s team captain Livingstone Kulata.
Hassan Zzungu believes his troops’ attitude will help them prevail to the final .
“The last training was good, and the response of the players is good. The attitude is good, and we shall go to fight for a win. We looked at the Benin team and have planned accordingly. The attitude of the players is positive, and we have prepared well,” stated Kitende team head coach Zzungu.
Uganda finished top of Group A with 7 points out of the possible 9, scoring 10 goals and conceded once.
The biggest win in the group stage was the 6-0 victory over Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) before sealing a semifinal slot with a 3-0 against Morocco. They also drew 1-1 against hosts Zimbabwe in the opening game.
Zzungu will heavily rely on Lucky Wanyama and Owen Mukisa for inspiration.
Zambia, Burkina Faso, Morocco and the defending champions Ghana are the girls’ teams in the semi-finals.
Classification games to determine positions 5 to 8 were played on Wednesday.
