Vipers SC will be aiming at extending their lead at the table of the Uganda Premier League when they host second placed Kitara FC under the lights of St.Mary’s Kitende on Friday.

Four points currently separate both sides with Vipers top on 50 points while Kitara has 46 points.

The Venoms have only lost once in this campaign and the defeat came in the boardroom against Kitara.

It should be noted that Vipers failed to honour their fixture against Kitara in October last year as they were in protest over the new league format that had been introduced by FUFA.

The Federation in February this year awarded Kitara three points and three goals but Vipers avoided further sanctions.

The two sides head into Kitende’s explosive contest not only targeting league glory but a domestic double. They both reached the semifinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup with Vipers eliminating NEC FC while Kitara ended Express FC’s journey.

Wasswa Bbosa heads to Kitende, optimistic of clinching victory and he confirmed he has a fully fit squad.

“We are playing a team that won the championship last season, we respect them but our target is to win and close the gap on them. Suffering defeat against them will make our main objective more difficult.” Said Wasswa Bbosa

Belgian Ivan Jacky Minneart will learn on the Abdul Karim Watambala, Usama Arafat, Odili Chukwuma and skipper Milton Karisa.

For Kitara, they will look up to George Ssenkaaba, former Vipers defenders Benjamin Nyakoojo and experienced Murushid Jjuuko along with former KCCA striker Patrick Kaddu.

Muhammad Shaban who got injured in Kitara’s win over UPDF is likely to return to face his former paymasters at Kitende.

Key Stats

Both sides have previously met 10 times with Vipers winning seven, lost once and the other two have ended in stalemates.
