Uganda Baati was among the companies that supported the annual Kabaka Birthday run that was held on Sunday, 12th April at Lubiri Mengo.

The run, themed “Men for Good Health to Save the Girl Child and the Fight to End HIV/AIDS by 2030,” calls on men to take a leading role in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Since its inception in 2014, the Kabaka Birthday Run has emerged as one of Uganda’s largest annual runs, championing health causes such as sickle cell awareness, fistula prevention, and now the fight against HIV/AIDS. It is also among the largest unique charity runs globally.

Uganda Baati had over 100 staff members participated in the 13th edition of the highly anticipated Kabaka Birthday Run. This year’s run marks Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s 71st birthday.

The Uganda Baati Head of External and Corporate Affairs Jackie Tahakanizibwa promised continued support of the annual run as well thanking the Kabaka for the initiative.

“The Kabaka birthday run is an impactful cause to the society, it’s a charity run but one for the purpose. The cause that the Kabaka has guided that we work with on the spread of HIV/AIDS. It’s important for us to spread the message to ensure we eradicate HIV/AIDS by 2030. As Uganda Baati we do a lot of health camps that benefit the many Ugandans. We pledge continued support of the Kabaka birthday run and we remain hopeful that this campaign will end the spread of HIV/AIDS since we want to have a health nation.” She Stated

The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, echoed the theme for this year’s run, reminding Ugandans of their role in the fight against HIV/AIDS:

“This year, our key message is very clear: Men for Good Health to Save the Girl Child and the Fight to End HIV/AIDS by 2030”. The Kabaka Birthday Run is not merely a celebration of His Majesty’s birthday, but a wake-up call to intensify our efforts in the fight for better health in Uganda.”

Uganda Baati hosted an on-site mobile clinic tent, that offered counselling and awareness materials to participants with knowledge that promotes healthier choices.
