Onyango’s Sundowns to face FAR Rabat in CAF Champions League Final

Denis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns will face off with Moroccan side FAR Rabat in the 2026 CAF Champions League final.

South African giants Sundowns overcame Tunisian side Esperance 2-0 on aggregate in the two legged semifinal winning both legs 1-0 in Tunis and Pretoria respectively.

In Pretoria, Brayan Leon first half goal at Loftus Versfeld stadium was the difference between the two the sides in match Uganda Cranes legend Onyango was unused substitute.

Sundowns will contest in the second consecutive final and fourth overall. They won their maiden title ten years ago and are seeking a second crown this year.

FAR Rabat also prevailed to the final after eliminating RS Berkane 2-1 on aggregate.

FAR Rabat won the first leg meeting 2-0 and lost the second leg fixture 1-0 defeat on Saturday.

Yassine Lebhiri’s second-half penalty gave Berkane some hope but fell short as FAR Rabat progressed.

In the first leg played at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah, Ahmed Hammoudan and Khalid Aït Ouarkhane scored for FAR Rabat.

The Moroccan side previously won the competition during the 1984/85 edition and are seeking glory once again.

The Final first leg will be played on 15th May at Loftus Versfeld stadium with the return leg scheduled for 24th May 2026 at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
