Following Vipers’ draw at KCCA, the chasing pack have a chance to close on the Uganda Premier League table leaders.
Kitara and SC Villa will be facing off on Thursday at Royals Park in Butema with both sides desperate for maximum points.
Kitara and Villa both have the same points, 51 heading into this contest eight below the Venoms who drew 1-1 at Lugogo.
The winner of the contest between the Royals and Jogoos will move within five points of the top.
Former SC Villa coach currently serving as Kitara assistant coach Wasswa Bbosa asserts that his side will go for maximum points against the 17-time League champions.
“Tough game against a very good side but we are at home and need to maximise the advantage,. We lost to them at their home and we are tied on points so beating them will open a gap between us.” he stated
Kitara needed Muhammad Shaban’s late strike in their 2-1 win away to Lugazi FC.
On the other hand, SC Villa’s Najib Yiga fresh from scoring a brace in their 4-0 thrashing of Buhimba United Saints expects his teammates to rise to the occasion and overcome his former paymasters .
“We know it’s going to be a tough game, but we’re ready to rise to the occasion away from home. We must secure points in Hoima on Thursday to keep our ambitions alive,” Said Yiga as quoted by the club website
Villa will have their skipper David Owori back in the squad after serving his suspension .
The Jogoos won the first round meeting a FUFA Kadiba Stadium, with Frank Ssebuufu scoring the all important goal.
This will be the eighth meeting between the two sides but Kitara have an edge basing in the previous seven meetings, winning three while the Jogoos have two wins and the others ending in stalemates.
