Muteesa 1 Royal University made history clinching their maiden Pepsi University Football League title after their 1-0 win over YMCA Institute 1-0 in the final held at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo on Saturday.
Both sides were contesting in their first ever UFL final. Muteesa 1 Royal University only in their second season in the prestigious University competition made history with their first ever triumph.
YMCA Institute had a golden opportunity in the 22nd minute but Makubuya Trevor failed to hit the target.
Six minutes later, Mutambo Sam rose highest to head Muteesa into the lead after being assisted by Twaha Bukenya who delivered a sensational cross down the right wing.
In the second half, YMCA tried to press for the levelled but couldn’t break down Muteesa’s resilient and organized defence.
By full-time whistle, it was jubilation for the Masaka based institute who smiled to their first ever title. For YMCA, they will go back to Buwambo with their heads up despite defeat.

Meanwhile, two time champions Kampala University overcame three time losing finalists St. Lawrence University 1-0 in the bronze medal match with Raymond Kiwewa scoring the only goal.
