Record Bika Football champions Mmamba Namakaka (Gabunga) edged Ngeye 1-0 in the opening game of the 2026 Bika Bya Baganda (Inter-Clans) football championship at the Muteesa II Wankulukuku stadium on Saturday, 2nd May.
Peter Kaye scored the only goal for the 10-time champions in the first period of the contest at Wankulukuku.
Kaye struck a sensational free kick in the 33 minutes for the goal that was the difference between the two sides.
Ngeye managed by Matia Lule are four time Bika champions having won the competition in in 1958, 1991, 1992 and 2012.
Mmamba Gabunga are record winners with 10 shields having won it in 1952, 1956, 1959, 1964, 1965, 1989, 1994, 2003, 2011, 2014).
Mmamba Namakaka and Ngeye are in Group C alongside Nvubu and Njaza with the top team advancing to the round of 16 to meet one of the teams that reached the quarterfinals last year.
Meanwhile, Musu coached by Faridah Bulega thrashed Nte 3-1 in the first ever competitive game to be played under the lights of Wankulukuku.
