Charles Lwanga will leave SC Villa when his employment contract expires at the end of the season, Swift Sports Uganda can reliably confirm.
This website understands that the Lwanga and his representatives believe a move away will be the best for both parties. Another unidentified Uganda Premier League side is already in negotiations with Lwanga for a possible deal.
He will once again leave the record league champions as a free agent like during his first stint at the club.
It should be remembered that in June 2020, Lwanga left SC Villa and joined rivals KCCA FC after the FUFA Player Status Committee ruled in his favour against the Jogoos over unpaid sign-on fees and salaries.
At KCCA, he made 55 league appearances in three seasons, scoring 17 goals before termination of his contract by mutual consent.
He returned to SC Villa at the start of the 2023/24 season and helped the side end its 20-year title drought in that particular season.
Last season, he was SC Villa’s top scorer in the league with 11 goals while Patrick Jonah Kakande managed eight goals for the club. This season, Lwanga has had limited playing time and has two league goals to his name, coming Villa’s 2-1 win over Police FC last year and against in the 4-0 thrashing of Buhimba last month.
In February this year, Lwanga’s agents claimed that club decided to sideline him after declining to renew his contract, alleging the stance is aimed at lowering his market value ahead of a potential move abroad.
