SC Villa completed a double over Mbarara City with a comeback win at Rwamwanja Stadium, Kamwenge on Wednesday.
The Jogoos returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over the Ankole Lions to go third on the Uganda Premier League table.
The four goals in the game came in the second period with Mbarara City’s Clinton Kamugisha opening the scoring from a free kick capitalising on poor goalkeeping from David Lukwago in the 69th minute.
Moments later, Charles Lwanga quickly levelled matters for Villa with a tap-in from close range in the 71st before completing his brace two minutes later.
Lwanga then turned provider when he fed Patrick Kakande for Villa’s third goal as well as securing maximum points.
Both sides had goals disallowed in the first half with Geoffrey Gagganga denied due to handball in the build-up to his strike in the 28th minute while Muhammad Kanyike had his goal for Mbarara City ruled out through offside.
The victory takes SC Villa to the third into third place with 55 points while Mbarara City remains 12th on the log with 24 points after 28 league games.
