Record Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) boys’ football champions St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende and East Africa champions Bukedea Comprehensive have reached the semifinals.
Kitende thrashed NUMASA 6-0 in the quarterfinal thanks to a hat-trick from Denis Kisiriko with Isaac Ssekate, Jordan Tugume and Claude Wakenge scoring the other goals.
Kitende who were losing finalists last year will be seeking at ending a rare title drought ahead of the schools’ 25-year anniversary celebrations due this year.
They have previously won the title a record 11-time, with their previous triumph coming in 2023.
St Mary’s Kitende will lock horns with Amus College School on Monday for a place in the final.
Amus ejected London College in the quarterfinal stage.
Meanwhile, Bukedea Comprehensive have also made it to the last four following their 4-1 shootout win over Masaka SS after a 1-1 draw in normal time.
Simon Wanyama gave Bukedea the lead before Masaka S.S’s late-late equalizer through Isaac Kafuuma.
In the penalty shootout, Bukedea Comprehensive School South goalkeeper Tonny Katangalo saved Ali Ssemakula and Isaac Kitty penalties.
Only Pius Ekusai scored for Masaka S.S. Simon Wanyama, Musa Godi, Bob Jeriga and captain Patrick Ssenkusa were on target for Bukedea Comprehensive School South.
Bukedea will now battle with Kyadondo SS who eliminated last year’s winners Buddo SS at the quarterfinal stage.
