Uganda Premier League record winners SC Villa and NEC FC are interested in signing Lugazi FC captain Richard Ayiko.
Swift Sports Uganda has established that the left back is currently out of contract at Lugazi and has emerged as a target for both Villa and NEC who want to boost their defences.
Ayiko has been serving as Lugazi FC captain and is open to leave the club for a new challenge ahead of the forthcoming 2026/27 season.
His contract at Lugazi expired at the end of the just concluded season.
Besides BUL FC and Lugazi FC, Ayiko has also featured for KCCA FC, Onduparaka and Maroons FC on two stints.
SC Villa who had a trophyless 2025/26 season are in the market for a left back who will fight for a starting slot with Simon Ssemayange but will face stiff competition from NEC FC for Ayiko’s signature.
The primary transfer window is scheduled to officially open on July 1st and conclude on 19th September this year.
