Uganda Premier League side UPDF has unveiled Hussein Mbalangu as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The army side confirmed Mbalangu’s appointment via via the club’s official social media platforms on Tuesday.

“We are thrilled to announce that Mbalangu Hussein has officially reported for duty as our new Head Coach,” the statement partly reads.
Last season, Mbalangu served as URA FC head for six months helping the tax collectors overcome relegation and reach the semifinal stage of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
He is also a former NEC FC head coach whom he led to a second place finish during the 2024/25 campaign.
He replaces Alex Gita who helped the club overcome relegation during the 2025-26 campaigm.
The 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season will officially kick off on August 28th while the transfer window opens on July 1st.
