Seven time Uganda Premier League champions Express FC are set to name Morley Byekwaso as their new head coach.
This website has established that Byekwaso and Express are close to reaching an agreement with an announcement expected this week.
Byekwaso is a former midfielder at Express and will replace Jimmy Kintu Mwera who left the club for URA FC.
He is a former head coach at SC Villa and KCCA FC where he also served as assistant coach respectively.
Byekwaso also worked as Uganda Hippos head coach leading them to the 2021 AFCON U-20 final and 2024 African Games final respectively.
He was also the co-coach along with Fred Muhumuza as Uganda Cranes made history when they reached the knockout stage of the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN) tournament for the first time.
Express recently appointed Vision Group Journalist Becky Cynthia Nakimera as their new Chief Executive Officer replacing embattled Ashiraf Miiro.
The Red Eagles who are seeking to revive themselves will also stay at Hamz Stadium as their home venue for the 2026/27 campaign.
