Goalkeeper Mbaba becomes second Gabonese player to join a UPL Club

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have confirmed Gabonese goalkeeper, Loyce Marius Mbaba as their fourth signing.

The Venoms confirmed Mbaba’s as their latest signing on a two year deal via their social media platforms on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

He becomes the second Gabonese player to sign for a Uganda Premier League after KCCA’s Axel Mezui.

“From Libreville, Gabon to Abijan, Côte d’Ivoire and now to Kitende, Uganda. Welcome Gabon’s number one goalkeeper, Loyce Mbaba,” Read the brief statement

The goalkeeper has previously featured for Gabonese outfit Association Supportive Mangasport as well as Ivorian clubs; Stella Club and Bouake FC.

 Mbaba expressed his delight after joining the Venoms

“I’m really, really happy to be here, really excited and looking forward to what is coming.

“The ambition shown by this club to get me here is something l can’t take for granted. I am excited for what lies ahead and can promise that I will give absolutely everything to try and help the club achieve even more success.”

 

Mbaba joins Joel Sserunjongi, Jacques Mangoba and Nicholas Mwere who also joined Vipers this transfer window.

He comes in to fill the void left by Congolese goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza’s exit, who left the club after four years.

Mbaba has 16 Gabon senior national team caps and was part of the team that represented nation at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco.

The eight time league champions are preparing for the CECAFA Kagame Cup, CAF Champions League, Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup.
