Former Uganda Cranes stylish players Steven Bengo, Tonny Mawejje, Simeone Masaba, Livingstone Mbabazi are among the 25 individuals who have embarked on the CAF A Coaching course at the FUFA Technical center in Njeru.
According to FUFA, the 10-month programme, conducted across five modules scheduled for July 2026, September 2026, November 2026, March 2027 and June 2027 will see the 25 coaches advance their technical knowledge, leadership abilities and coaching competencies.
Experienced coach educators and football development experts, including FIFA High Performance Specialist Abdul Faisal Chibsah, FIFA Expert Simon Jennings, CAF Elite Coach Educator, FIFA Coach Educator and CAF Technical Study Group (TSG) Panel Member Abraham Mebratu, CAF/FIFA Coach Educator Douglas Bamweyana and FIFA/CAF Coach Educator Jackson Nyiima are conducting the programme.
Kitara FC’s Wasswa Bbosa, SC Villa’s assistant Ibrahim Kirya, NEC FC’s assistant James Odoch are among the notable coaches participating in the CAF A License course.
FUFA earlier revealed that both the head and assistant Coaches of each club shall be required to at least hold a CAF A Coaching Diploma to coach in the Uganda Premier League next season. However, a grace period shall be provided for CAF B Assistant Coaches whose current FUFA-registered employment contracts are still valid.
