Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have announced the return of Farouk Miya.
Miya has been a free agent following the expiry of his contract with Greek side GS Ilioupoli at the end of the previous season and returns to Vipers after a decade in Europe.
He has been training with Vipers since the club appointed Frenchman Denis Lavagne as their head coach at the end of last month.
Miya scored four goals in the 17 games he played last season as Ilioupoli succumbed to relegation to the Greek third tier.
Miya left Vipers in 2016 to join Belgian giants Standard Liege after helping them to their second league title in 2014/15.
He went on to have spells in Croatia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Ukraine and most recently Greece.
He also featured for Royal Mouscron, FK Sebail, HNK Gorica, Konyaspor, Caykur Rizespor and had his stint in Ukraine with Lviv cut short by the civil war.
Miya is also remembered for scoring the all important goal against Comoros that saw Uganda Cranes return to the Africa Cup of Nations after 38-years.
Vipers have already signed Gabonese goalkeeper Loyce Mbaba, Congolese right-back Jacques Mangoba, Joel Sserunjogi and striker Ceaser Manzoki.
The Venoms will be representing Uganda in the CAF Champions League but first the CECAFA Kagame Cup in Rwanda.
