Buganda Sports Minister Inspects Bunjako as Amaato ga Kabaka Readies for Saturday Showdown
The Buganda Kingdom Sports Minister, Oweek. Salongo Robert Sserwanga, on Thursday visited Bunjako Beach to assess final preparations ahead of this Saturday’s Amaato ga Kabaka Royal Regatta.
Sserwanga toured the venue with members of the Buganda Royal Regatta Committee to ensure all logistics, security, and entertainment plans were in top gear.
The event is expected to draw top Kingdom and Government leaders.
Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga and Hon. Robina Nabanja have confirmed attendance.
There is also strong hope that His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II will grace the function.
All 18 Masaza athletes reported at Bunjako yesterday and had a full day of trials and practice on the water ahead of the boat racing competitions.
Security has also been prioritized. The Kabaka’s Protection Unit, led by Afande Nassimbwa, together with the Police Regional Commander, were on ground to ensure “no stone is left unturned” for the safety of thousands expected on Saturday.
To guarantee transparency, teams displaying this year’s prizes were present at the beach. Revellers stand a chance to win boda bodas, smartphones, watches, and original Premier League jerseys.
Engineer Ben Misagga, Chairperson of the Buganda Royal Regatta Committee, assured the public of nonstop entertainment from 7:00 AM till late.
“We are ready. The music, the races, the food, and the prizes are all set. The day will be crowned by a live performance from the legendary Afrigo Band at 5:00 PM,” Misagga said.
With everything in place, organizers are calling on all subjects of Buganda and friends of the Kingdom to turn up for what promises to be the biggest cultural sports festival of the year.
