KCCA FC head coach Brian Ssenyondo has officially appointed defender Herbert Achayi as the club’s primary captain ahead of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season.
The appointment was confirmed on Wednesday during KCCA FC Day 2026, shortly after the squad for the new campaign was unveiled to the Cityzens at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Achayi, who has grown into a leader at the heart of the Kasasiro Boys’ defence, takes over the armband to lead the senior setup for the expanded 34-game season.
He will be backed by a strong leadership group. Versatile defender Fillbert Obenchan will serve as first vice-captain, while Enock Walusimbi and midfielder Saidi Mayanja take up the third and fourth leadership roles respectively.
The announcement came during the official squad presentation, where Ssenyondo outlined his technical vision and player pathways for the upcoming campaign, emphasizing a blend of experience, youth integration and academy talent across three distinct roster tiers.
Achayi will lead KCCA FC out for the first time as official captain when the 13-time champions open their league campaign against NEC FC this Saturday, as they look to reclaim the title in the new expanded 18-team league.
