First-ever Football Governance and Business summit set for Kampala

Event: 1st Football Governance and Business Summit
Dates: 3rd – 4th September 2026
Venue: Bamus Sarovar Portico Hotel, Kampala

The first ever Football Governance and Business Summit will take place from 3rd to 4th September 2026 at the Bamus Sarovar Portico Hotel, Kampala, in what is anticipated to yield fruits for the entire football ecosystem.

The summit is convened by Pauline Mbanza, who envisages a professional approach to the beautiful game where all stakeholders embrace best practices from the same wavelength.

Focus Areas

  • The two-day summit will focus on four critical pillars:
    – Players’ Contracts
    – Club Legal Structures
    – Intermediaries (Agents)
    – Safeguarding

Objectives

  • The summit will dwell upon key aspects including:

•Increasing legal awareness of player rights, contracts and legal protections across Uganda’s football community
•Building regional capacity for sports lawyers, intermediaries and club administrators
•Promotion of child safeguarding
•Advancing women participation and rights in the football ecosystem
•Educating football stakeholders on available dispute resolution mechanisms such as the FUFA Dispute Resolution Chamber, Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and FIFA Tribunals.

Partnership and Tickets

Meanwhile, Mashariki Sports and Entertainment Advisory has partnered with Football Governance to partially sponsor tickets for Coaches, Referees, Academies and Clubs to attend the summit.

Tickets are now at UGX 80,000 per head.

Entities like academies and clubs are expected to send in 2 delegates, which makes it UGX 160,000.

Note: For an academy or club that wants to bring a third delegate, they will have to pay UGX 150,000 for the third delegate.

Key note speakers include John Ohaga (international arbitrator), Khayran Noor (sports lawyer), Caroline Mwanzia (FIFA agent, sports and entertainment advocate), Swagath Chanila Ramachandra (international sports lawyer), Pius Ndubuokwu (lawyer), Mohammed Mitwally (international sports lawyer), Peter Mshikilwa (sports lawyer), Brenda Patience Kyomugisha Kyomuhendo (safe guarding officer in football academies), Sarah Solemale (Arbitrator), Abdelrahman Hashish (international sports lawyer and arbitrator), Catherine Constance Adipo (Ex-FIFA Referee), Dr Mariam Mell’Osiime Mpaata (sports administrator), Ebelechukwu “Eby” Emenike (sports administrator), Sultan Atubo (FIFA Agent), Timothy Kajja (Sports Lawyer); among others.
