Emmanuel Janan Okech’s second-half goal earned Blacks Power a 1–0 victory over Police FC in their Uganda Premier League contest at Hoima Stadium on Wednesday.
Blacks Power, under the stewardship of former Police FC head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa, were targeting a second consecutive win.
The Cops, who had secured a sponsorship deal worth Shs1.35 billion with Yaobai Cement Karamoja for three years on Tuesday, were also aiming for another win following their 1-0 victory over Mbarara City last week.
Blacks Power were forced into a double change with Nathan Oloro replacing Andrea Ogwal in the 9th minute before Elias Paul Emojori Oonyu came on for injured Oscar Otim in the 37th minute.
Five minutes after the recess, Okech gave the hosts the lead and it was enough to secure maximum points and another clean sheet following a similar win over fellow newcomers Ntugasaze in their first game.
Mugerwa’s men are now third in the standings with six points, while Police are sixth with three points from two matches.
Elsewhere: Maroons Hit Three Past Ntugasaze
In the other game played on Wednesday, Maroons powered past newcomers Ntugasaze 3-1.
Jackson Nunda and Marvin Oshaba were on target for the visitors, scoring the three goals, while Ronald Kaye got the consolation for the league debutants.
Maroons finished the game with ten men following Edward Kabona’s red card in the final minutes of the contest.
Ntugasaze remain winless, while Maroons registered their first win of the campaign, having lost 2-1 to URA FC in their first game of the season.
